Penryn SurgeryPenryn Surgery aims to provide high quality patient centred care.

We are constantly trying to improve our services. The website provides helpful information about the services we offer, those available elsewhere locally and includes some additional health information for you.

By clicking on this link you can order your repeat prescriptions online

In order to make our prescription service safer, from 4TH April 2016 the staff at Penryn Surgery, Mawnan Smith Surgery and Stithians Surgery WILL NOT be taking any requests for prescriptions over the telephone. All future requests for prescriptions will need to be either by written request to the surgery, by using your repeat medication slip or ordered on-line.

The reasons for this change are:

The most important reason is safety. Some telephone requests can result in mistakes and can involve a great deal of time in checking the correct drug details and dosages

This system will reduce the number of phone calls to the surgery. It will be easier for patients phoning for appointments, advice or in urgent need of medical help to get through

To make the staff more available to you in the surgery

Together with other practices in the area and nationally we have been encouraging people not to ring for prescriptions. We now intend to take this further as it has been found to lead to safer prescribing and improved telephone access.

Your health is our top priority. All we are asking from you is that you think a little further ahead when ordering your medication to avoid running out and having to make requests for urgent medication.

To request a repeat prescription in future please do one of the following:

1.Keep the tear off half of the previous prescription, tick the medication you require and drop the slip into the blue box at the surgery.
2. Fill in one of the forms provided on the prescription desk giving full details of the name, strength and dosage
3. Post your request to us. If you require the paper prescription to be posted back to you, please enclose a stamped SAE
4. Online with SystmOnline available through our website or there are mobile apps available from the Apple App store or Android Play Store
You must sign up at the surgery to use on-line services. Please bring current photo ID and a personal email address to any of our receptionists to receive your username and password.
Whichever method you choose, please allow 2 full working days for your prescription to be ready and a further day if you collect your medication from a pharmacy or dispensary.

Due to an increasing number of requests for repeat prescriptions to be ordered urgently, priority will only be given to medication which you need within 24 hours to prevent you becoming severely unwell. Emergency medication includes : diabetic medications, inhalers, angina sprays, anaphylaxis pens and epilepsy medication.

Most medications can safely be missed for a few days and you may be advised that your prescription will be issued routinely. Emergency prescription requests are not requests for medication which has been ordered late. We will not issue urgent prescriptions for items that can be bought over the counter.

If the doctor feels your medication cannot be missed, the item will be issued and will be available for collection from 5.30pm.
